I saw a lady that I knew quite well,
She was limping, her dog was limping too.
I remembered her fifteen years ago,
I remembered her dog when he was a small pup,
He would torment and chase my cat non stop.
Old age had cought up with them and today they both were limping.
I remembered that she would bring her youthful exuberance,
She drank beer bungy jumped and danced.
She looked at me with dull blank eyes,
The twinkle was no more, I saw her walked towards a door.
A huge sign across the door read EMI.
I realized that she had been delt a bitter blow,
Even her name she did not know.
She looked at me without a hint of shame.
She whispered I don’t know my name,
I remembered Doris when she was a feisty outspoken free spirit.
Alzheimers is so cruel.
