I once lived in happy land,
Some days I was happy and sometimes I was unhappy.
Some Folks would smack me, while some would respect me,
But I learnt to be strong , playing all day long,
Picking blackberries and loquats,
Happy cos my grandmuma loves me lots.
Happy land was beautiful and wonderful,
It seems a fine place.
But every day I wished that I could see my mothers face,
I don’t know my father mother sister or brother.
They all live thousands of miles away,
I think of them every day, I hope that you can understand,
That somestimes I am unhappy living in happy land.

I wrote this poem while I was at Harford School. I wrote it in my poem book that sometimes I was only happy when the big ships came in. My grandmother would call the big union castle ships steamers and I can remember when she used to look out over the water and we would watch them together.
