It’s raining outside, I am thankful that I have a roof over my head,’
food in my cupboard and a nice warm bed.
Life could be worse I could be homeless,
I have been homeless.
Homeless under the blazing sun,
It’s easier to be homeless in the sun, then in the freezing cold.
Homelessness shatters the soul,
I didn’t like being homeless,
The choice for me was homelessness,
Or move in with a man that I didn’t love.
I didn’t want to sleep in the park or in the dark,
I worried that a drunk would pee on me,
I can’t stand the smell of stale piss I will stay with a man that I don’t love,
And close my eyes when we kiss.
I never judge homeless people,
In our warm world of luxury,
From harsh winters and dangers we are free,
I would never judge people who are homeless,
Homelessness, once affected me.
Although it’s now a bad memory,
Homelessness is indeed ugly.
