Mother’s day on StHelena would be a simple occasion when I was a child.During Sunday school at the little salvation Army hall out at Deadwood we would give our mum’s a small posy made from pretty wildflowers. I didn’t have a mum so I gave my grandmother the freshly hand-picked flowers.
I can see a beautiful flower,
growing in a field,
I picked the flower for my muma,
And gently placed it on her grave,
I stood at her grave for a while,
Thinking back to when I was a child,
So many years ago, but I still love her so,
I open my eyes and it seems,
The flower only blooms in my dreams. by Dorothy Maude.
