Traffic was at a standstill in Newport today, the festival starts tomorrow. We bought fish and chips, sat in the park and ate them. As we finished our last chip it started to rain. We ran for cover in the nearest charity shop. Once it eased we continued on our way to the council offices. We delivered the letters we had for them. Back on the no 9 bus traffic still slow. We overheard a young man boasting to his friend about his time in prison. At seventeen he thought he knew it all how much nicer it would have been to hear him bragging about positive things instead. His girlfriend was waiting for him in Ryde and hopefully, she will keep him in line. by Dorothy Maude.
