Most of them knew their mother,
While so many didn’t know their father,
Our mother’s love saw us through it,
She assured us we can do it,
Hardship and desperation,
Seeking immigration,
Leaving isolation,
Our island is never far from our mind,
Although we left it far behind,
It was as if a bird flew by
Up above the clear blue sky,
And dropped an egg into the sea,
And out hatched St Helena,
A tiny place with worth,
A place upon our earth,
Thinking of you at this moment in time.
Yes, we love St Helena. xxx By Dorothy Maude.
